A dynamic pass box, also known as a transfer switch, is typically designed in two forms; dynamic and static. The dynamic pass box has been widely popular as they are very easy to install and configure. The dynamic pass box uses active control circuit logic or ADCs to control and manage the active components on the platform. The dynamic pass box can be used as an isolate or as a member of multiples groups of switches. The main difference between the two is detailed below for the convenience of the reader.
Static interlocking pass box: This one door interlocking box offers the user the facility of having multiple zones of operation within a single unit. It contains one door that is opened and locked and when the door is closed, the other one stays closed and inactive. This one door feature provides good flexibility and convenience to the end user who can lock one section of the box and leave the other area unlocked. There are generally two types available in this category; one door static and the other door dynamic.
UV blocking: This dynamic pass box can be used along with an uv resistant uv filter. Such a filter can help to prevent ozone formation in the box and helps to maintain indoor air quality at all times. The filter is generally attached to the bottom of the cover. It has an added advantage of being able to provide protection from UV rays to prevent damage to the sensitive equipment like CRT monitors etc.
Indoor/Outdoor Air Flow Indicator Light: A unique indoor/outdoor air flow indicator light is another feature present in the dynamic pass box. This device is present behind or alongside the door or partition. It displays the current condition of the airflow inside the room. The air flow indicator light glows green when the condition of indoor air quality is poor and red when it's bad. Indoor/Outdoor Air Flow Indicator Light is activated when the door or partition is opened or closed and it remains active even when the device is switched off.
Electrical Components: All the four important electrical components of the dynamic pass box are present in the device. The terminal blocks of both the electric board and the interlocking arrangement are present in the box. They are connected to a plug board, which is fitted on the wall. The terminal blocks are secured by magnetic strips to the corresponding terminals of electric boards and they are screwed into place. The interlocking arrangement consists of two metal clamps, one on each side of the plug board.
The location of the components of a dynamic pass box is important. You have to ensure that they are placed at the correct location to avoid any inconvenience while conducting the required activities. Remember that the main electric supply runs through the pass to the clean room. Hence, the power and the connection to the clean room should be done away from the area. Make sure that all the required components of a dynamic pass box are present at the clean room and if they are not present then you must contact a technician and get them replaced.
